Plan for cross country meet The plans for the Martins Ferry Cross country meet are following the OHSAA and OATCC recommendations to the best of our ability. Spectators: Spectators will not be permitted within 30 feet of the finish line or starting line. Spectators will be required to wear masks at all times and asked to social distance. We will request that no more than two spectators (family members) attend per runner. Spectators are asked to not come more than 30 minutes before their runners race and to leave immediately after. Spectators will be asked when viewing from the course (on top of the hill) to stay on the gravel road. When viewing at the finish they will be asked to stay on the paved road areas. Runners: Runners will be required to wear facemasks except when running or actively warming up. Runners will be called to the start line no more than 5 minutes before the race. Runners will be positioned six feet away from each other at the start line. The start will be about 100 m before the race converges onto on six foot or larger path. At the finish, there will be no chute. Runners will cross the line and move toward a water table where they can pick up a bottle of water and leave the area. Runners will not have their tags pulled off unless there is a major problem with the timing (if so gloves will be used and runners can tear own tags). Runners will set up camp at the softball area and warm up along the backside of the elementary or the course itself. They will not warm up at the start line. There will be no team huddle or run outs at the start line. Runners who are not racing or warming up for the next race should stay in the camp area. Concessions will only be prepackaged food. Workers will wear facemasks and gloves. There will be awards and no ceremony. Awards will be picked up at the awards table after the race.
